January 2025
Dear Chorister,
Congratulations and thanks to all who joined voices in making the first concert of the 2024-2025 season a rousing success. Our two-concert production featuring John Rutter’s sparkling “Gloria” was performed with a wonderful group of 115 singers and an enthusiastic Christmas concert audience. I can’t imagine any in the audience not leaving in a holiday mood. I have spoken with so many folks who have expressed how much they enjoyed our performances. What a wonderful gift you have given to me and to the community at large. Thank you!
It is with a great deal of anticipation that I invite you all to join us for our spring concert.
With the theme “Let There be Light”, the first half of our spring concert will feature contemporary composer Elaine Hagenberg’s moving “Illuminare”. This exciting new work will be accompanied by the SVCS chamber orchestra. Our concert will begin with the beautiful orchestral work, “Only Light” by Aaron Perrine, featuring the SVCS chamber orchestra.
The second half of our concert continues to develop our light theme as we present works by Kyle Pederson, Shawn Kirchner, Keith Hampton, and others. This will be a concert you will not want to miss. Please join us! Our performance list follows:
- Illuminare – Elaine Hagenberg ($12.85)
- Let There be Light – Gilbert Martin ($2.65)
- O Nata Lux – Victoria Davidson/Rudy Lupinski ($2.15)
- Through Love to Light – Elaine Hagenberg ($2.75)
- Unclouded Day – Shawn Kirchner ($2.50)
- Can We Sing the Darkness to Light? – Kyle Pederson ($2.80)
