Letter to Singers

      From the director

April 2024

Dear Chorister,

Greetings and congratulations to all who helped make our 2024 spring concert, “Songs of Comfort, Songs of Joy!” a great success.  The audience was overwhelmingly enthusiastic about the concert’s beauty and unique energy.  Thanks to you all for your artistry and dedication that made our second concert of the season a success.  Your work on this challenging and beautiful program was remarkable.  Thank you!

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with folks who love great choral music.  Your dedication and sacrifice of time and energy are always an inspiration to me.  So, how about it, shall we get together one more time in our 53rd season?  We’d love to have you join us!

It is with a great deal of anticipation that I invite all current, former, and new members of the SVCS to join us for the final concert of the 2023-2024 season.  For many, the patriotic/pops concert performed in conjunction with the Rockingham Community Concert Band is a seasonal favorite.

Our July concert will include The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Armed Forces Salute and America the Beautiful.   These are numbers presented each year as a part of the concert celebration.  The others are new compositions/arrangements to the ensemble.

  • America the Beautiful (yearly) – Arr. William Russell Bennett ($2.25)
  • Battle Hymn of the Republic (yearly) – Arr. Peter J. Wilhousky ($1.95)
  • Armed Forces Salute (yearly) – Arr. Joyce Eilers ($1.50)
